Pastor Beverly Dukes began serving FUMC Lombard on July 3, 2022. She will be serving us along with a Methodist church in Maywood.
Before being called into the ministry, Pastor Beverly spent over 27 years working in public and social services. She worked particularly with children and families involved with the Illinois Department of Children and Family services. She further worked extensively with persons living in marginalized communities. Pastor Beverly earned her Master of Science in Public Service Management at DePaul University and a Bachelor of Science degree from Easter Illinois University in Family and Consumer Sciences. After consulting with her pastor at St. Mark United Methodist Church, regarding expanding her gifts and talents, she enrolled in Garrett Evangelical Theological Seminary. She earned her Master of Divinity from Garrett Evangelical Seminary in May 2019. She is currently a provisional elder with the Northern Illinois Conference of the United Methodist Church. She has previously served at East Side United Methodist Church and St. Andrew United Methodist Church. In July 2021, Pastor Beverly was appointed to Neighborhood United Methodist Church.
Pastor Beverly Dukes is committed to spreading the love of Jesus Christ through the work of the Holy Spirit into a broken and suffering world. She is committed to the ministries of local churches and the communities in which they serve. She enjoys empowering the youth in ministries, meeting the needs of the community, building relationships with parishioners, strengthening ministries, meeting with the shut-in, facilitating group Bible studies, and preaching the Word of God. She has been happily married to her husband, Leon Dukes Jr, for over thirteen years and they reside in Lynwood, Illinois.
